Kitgum Kickstart CIC
Kitgum Kickstart CIC will launch in our new premises. We are currently finalising the lease with solicitors and preparing for relocation and relaunch.
It aims to support people in Brighton & Hove who face barriers to employment or confidence.
Following our relocation and relaunch, we will deliver training, mentoring and real-world experience through hospitality and creative media. Our focus is on helping local young people and adults from disadvantaged backgrounds build skills, self-belief and pathways into work.
Our previous site proved the demand for Kitgum, but the space was too small and footfall was limited. Relocating will make the restaurant sustainable and create the room we need to launch Kitgum Kickstart CIC — offering training, mentoring and real-world experience for local people in Brighton & Hove.
Why we are relocating
What we’ll deliver (within 6 months of opening)
Hospitality training + supported work experience (kitchen and front of house)
Mentoring and confidence-building (routines, teamwork, communication, employability)
Creative media skills (DJing, filming/editing and content creation)
Progression support into jobs, apprenticeships, volunteering or further training
What we’re fundraising for?
To make the new space safe, welcoming and ready for training, we’re raising £5,000–£10,000 towards essential improvements and equipment. This includes:
Soundproofing the ceiling (to protect neighbours and make the space suitable for sessions and events)
Kitchen equipment to deliver hospitality training safely and efficiently
DJ and audio equipment (amps/speakers) to support creative media skills and workshops
We will cover any remaining costs ourselves and through additional fundraising.
